A Career Built Across Research, Design, and Production.
Misfit Island is the way I bring strategy, research, design, and production together for products, services, and brand experiences. The work starts with the question at hand and takes the form it needs to take: a research program, product direction, experience design, activation support, or a close agency partnership.
A Useful Mix of Backgrounds
I have spent 15 years in UX research, product strategy, and enterprise work across HPE, Nutrien Ag Solutions, global manufacturing, agency engagements, and growth-stage teams. The work has ranged from field research and customer strategy to product direction, experience design, and build-ready structures.
Before that, I spent 15 years producing film and television. That work taught me to turn an internal vision into something a larger team could see, coordinate around, and execute under pressure. The same discipline carries directly into research, design, and brand experience work: listen closely, understand the constraints, and make something a larger team can bring to life.
How I Work
I start close to the work. That may mean talking with customers, users, partners, or the people making and delivering the thing. I connect what they know with market context, business needs, and practical constraints.
Facilitation is one delivery mechanism, not the whole service. I use it when it helps a team make progress together, and leave it aside when research, design, or production is the more useful contribution.
The specific method follows the work. I may use stakeholder interviews, field research, a market scan, working sessions, prototyping, experience design, validation, or production planning. I do not force every engagement through one system.
A Little More Context
I've worked across technology, agriculture, manufacturing, media, and sports, and agency engagements, with organizations from Fortune 500 to growth-stage. The industries change. The recurring pattern is work that crosses functions and cannot be seen completely from inside one role. I also coach varsity girls' basketball, which keeps the room-under-pressure muscle sharp. Before all of that, I shot a feature film that won Best Feature at the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, learned salsa dancing in Colombia well enough to place second in an amateur competition, and have worked across four continents.
